Change.org Petition Drive!! A Plea to expand the Overcrowdded KB K8 Center

KBK8 is seriously overcrowded. Our campus was designed to serve 981 students, but now has 1435. More importantly, our population is predicted to continue to grow. We need to be prepared. A new building with more classrooms, combined with renovations to existing buildings, is necessary to adequately serve our growing student population and the projected continued growth. The location of the new building, in the NE corner of the campus, would not encroach on the school's fields.

We ask the Miami-Dade School Board and the Village of Key Biscayne to relieve the present and projected overcrowding at KBK8 by working quickly to jointly support and fund a new building on our campus.
I have been advocating for an expanded redeveloped K8 Center since 2008. I believe the building should located on the south side and the new ball field on the north side so that the entire campus is above the flood zone for a barrier island. I am in support of any outcome that relieves overcrowding and brings a state of the art secure facility the teachers and parents deserve for their students.
